The fourth edition of the Marbella Luxury Weekend contributed to a high level of occupancy at the hotels.
Tourism Council of Marbella, Jose Luis Hernandez announced that about 55,000 people attended the four days of the festival, which were 5,000 more than last year. A total of 75 different companies participated this year and it was organized 93 different events.
One of the aims of the festival is to attract visitors to Marbella beyond the traditional summer months of July and August. Hernández says that hotel occupancy during the four days 5 to 8 June was 82 percent, which is close to August levels.
This year’s best news, a floating catwalk in Puerto Banús, was a huge success with extensive media coverage.
Strong increase of tourists to the Canary Islands in Spain
Tourists love the islands to spend holidays in Spain. Both Canary and Balearic Islands has experienced strong growth in visitor numbers when it comes to internet searches.
In Tenerife, the number of Russian inquiries and searches on web pages almost exploded and had increased by 152 percent.
The number of Britons who use websites to find accommodation in Tenerife has increased by 70 percent. Although have the Scandinavian increased requests. The number of inquiries from Danes has increased by 67 percent, with 53 percent of Swedes and Norwegians with the whole 142 percent.
Lanzarote is also popular. This increased interest from the Swedes by 32 percent and from the Danes by 24 percent.
Mallorca has seen an increase of 46 percent among British travelers, while Ibiza is also strong growth in tourism, growth in searches of 140 per cent from the UK, 35 percent in Sweden and 33 percent in Norway.
